Body Work
We use various modalities and techniques to prepare your body to move more optimally and to recover from activity by increasing flexibility, mobility, and range of motion, while decreasing the chance of injury.

ART - Active Release Technique
ART was created by Dr. P. Michael Leahy to help elite athletes perform their best after soft tissue issues and has spread to treating all individuals with soft tissue disorders.

Active Release Technique is a soft tissue system/movement-based technique that combines massage and stretching for maximum relief of conditions that originate from muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and even nerves. ART is a non-invasive way to treat and prevent soft tissue injuries and related conditions.

ART can help improve a wide variety of issues, some of which include:
-
Plantar Fasciitis
-
Sciatica
-
Shin Splints
-

AIS (Active isolated stretching)
The AIS Method, also known as The Mattes Method, was developed by Aaron L. Mattes, RKT, LMT. You can visit his webpage at www.stretchingusa.com.

Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) allows the body to repair itself and also to prepare for daily activity. The AIS technique involves the method of holding each stretch for two seconds. This method of stretching is also known to work with the body's natural physiological makeup to improve circulation and increase the elasticity of muscle joints and fascia. The AIS method of muscle lengthening and fascial release is a type of thletic stretching technique that provides effective, dynamic, facilitated stretching of major muscle groups, but more importantly, AIS provides functional and physiological restoration of superficial and deep fascial planes.
AIS is important for injury prevention, recovery, as well as overall performance enhancement.

AIS is something that everyone can benefit from. AIS can be used for any ages and any levels of fitness with little contraindications. These are just a few who can benefit from AIS…

Kinesio Taping
The Kinesio Taping Method is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while allowing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion. Although originally developed in a medical setting, for many years Kinesio Taping has assisted individuals of all ages to find comfort in their daily activities.

At work, Kinesio Taping can help the office worker dealing with neck and lower back stress caused by long hours at a computer terminal; the mechanic or warehouse worker with strained knees and shoulders from reaching and crouching; and the headaches or foot pain caused by so many different professions. At home, parents and children can use a little extra assistance for daily housework, yardwork, school and shopping activities. And of course, at play: from walking, running or bicycling to reach a destination, to casual athletics to the serious weekend warrior." ~ Kinesio Taping

It is used successfully for:
-
Orthopedic, Nueromuscular, Neurological and other Medical Conditions
-
Providing Extended Soft Tissue Manipulation to Prolong Benefits of Manual Therapy

melt method
The MELT Method® is a self-treatment technique that helps prevent pain, heal injury, and erase the negative effects of aging and active living. MELT simulates the hands-on techniques that manual therapist Sue Hitzmann uses to eliminate stress, pain, and dysfunction in her private clients. This unique Hands-off Bodywork™ approach is the first treatment that simulates the techniques and the results of manual therapy.

MELT is the first neurofascial technique. This patent-pending method brings your body back to a more ideal state by directly enhancing body awareness, rehydrating connective tissue, and quieting the nervous system. The first time you MELT, you see and feel a difference – and over time, you can transform how your body looks and feels. MELT is changing the way people care for their bodies. This proactive approach to maintaining a healthy, pain-free, active lifestyle is the best solution for living longer…better.

“Introducing MELT into my recipe of ‘feeling GREAT’ and ‘moving BETTER’ for my clients has been a HUGE success. Why? Because the MELT method makes you feel ALIVE - that ‘tingly’ feel good feeling! I would recommend MELT to anyone, especially runners, those that work long hours on their feet or those that use their hands and forearms for long periods of time – great for those that spend hours on the computer. MELT and feel years younger,…it’s that simple!”
~ Alexis C. Gaston, CEO “Choreographer of ENERGY and Optimism” MELT Method Level 1 Instructor

"A little proactive self-care goes a long way to keep you pain-free and active for a lifetime."
~ Sue Hitzmann creator of MELT Method®

"I've been implementing the MELT method for just over a week and am amazed at the benefits. Each time I go through the "routine" it gets a little easier. I've been training for a half-marathon and experienced some foot pain and soreness. New shoes and orthotic inserts helped, but after 3 MELT sessions the symptoms have disappeared completely. I'm doing it ongoing to stay healthy and active. It works for me!"
~ Ruth Reynolds, training with Just Get Fit since 1994
